Your HYROX race plan,
leg by leg
Enter your target time and see what you need on each of the sixteen legs: the time, the pace per kilometer and the minute you should pass. No sign-up and no email.
To calculate, we still need: your running pace, Ski, Sled push, Sled pull, Burpee broad jumps, Row, Farmers carry, Sandbag lunges, Wall balls.
How we calculate it
- Your estimate. Each kilometer comes from your pace, 1.2% slower than the one before; each station from your fresh time times 1.08; and each of the sixteen transitions from the seconds you enter, 25 unless you change it. It’s the same method as the predicted time in the 8Round app.
- Your target. The sixteen legs are scaled by the same proportion so that, with the transitions added, the total is exactly your target.
- The checkpoints. The last column is the race clock at the end of each leg, including the transition before it.
How to use the plan on race day
You don’t need to memorize sixteen numbers. Keep three or four: the clock as you leave the ski, after the row and as you reach the wall balls. If you’re well ahead of your plan after the first kilometer, that isn’t good news: it usually costs you later.
Frequently asked questions
How does it split my target time?
First it estimates your race from your numbers, just like the time calculator. Then it scales all sixteen legs by the same proportion until, with the transitions added, it lands exactly on your target. That way the plan respects what you do best and worst.
Why don't the transitions change?
Because crossing the floor and setting up at a station doesn't get faster just because you want a better time. We keep the seconds you enter and share out the rest between running and the stations.
What is the «Pass at» column?
The race clock at the end of each leg. If you check the clock as you get off the rower and you're behind that figure, you know you need to push; if you're well ahead, you're going out too hard.
What about pace per kilometer?
On the running legs the leg time is your pace, because they're 1,000 meters each. You'll see each kilometer is a little slower than the one before: that's normal when you arrive tired.
What target should I choose?
One close to your estimate. If you ask for more than 25% less than your estimate, the calculator warns you: with a jump like that, the plan will have you starting too fast and paying for it at the end.
Do you store my data?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere. Your browser remembers what you typed for next time and for the time calculator.
